Nail dehydrator

ES: Deshidratador de uñaDE: Nagelentfeuchter

A nail dehydrator is a crucial product used in the nail preparation process, specifically formulated to strip away natural oils, grease, and moisture from the surface of the natural nail plate. It's like a deep-cleaning agent that ensures your nails are perfectly dry and ready for product application, creating an optimal foundation for adhesion and preventing premature lifting.

You apply it directly to the natural nail after filing and cuticle pushing, but *before* any primer or base coat. Typically, it comes in a brush-on bottle, and you apply a thin, even layer. It evaporates very quickly, often leaving the nail surface looking slightly chalky or matte, which indicates it has effectively removed excess moisture. Its effect is temporary, so it's important to apply your next product (primer or base) relatively soon after to maximize its benefits.

It's essential for any nail service requiring long-lasting adhesion, such as gel, acrylic, polygel, or even gel polish applications. If you have naturally oily nail beds, or if you live in a humid climate, a dehydrator is your best friend to prevent premature lifting of your nail enhancements or polish. Unlike a primer, which creates a sticky bond (either acid or non-acid based), the dehydrator's sole purpose is deep cleansing and moisture removal.

A common mistake is touching the nail plate with your fingers after applying the dehydrator. Don't do it! Any contact will reintroduce oils and moisture, negating its effect. Always ensure your nails are completely clean and free of dust before application, and then proceed directly to primer or base coat without touching the prepared surface.
