Soft gel tips
Soft gel tips are pre-shaped, full-cover nail extensions made entirely from a flexible gel material. They are lightweight and are adhered to the natural nail using a specific gel adhesive that is cured under a UV/LED lamp, providing a quick, durable, and natural-looking enhancement. The process begins with thorough nail preparation, including buffing, dehydrating, and applying a primer. Next, you select the correct size soft gel tip for each nail, ensuring it fits perfectly from sidewall to sidewall without gapping or overlapping. A thin layer of a specialized gel adhesive (often a builder gel or a dedicated tip adhesive) is then applied to the underside of the tip, where it will contact the natural nail. The tip is carefully pressed onto the natural nail, starting from the cuticle area and rolling it down to the free edge, ensuring no air bubbles are trapped. A quick flash cure with a mini UV/LED lamp holds the tip in place, followed by a full cure. Finally, the tips are shaped, filed, and finished with gel polish or a top coat. Soft gel tips are an excellent choice if you desire instant length and strength without the bulk, strong odors, or extensive filing associated with traditional acrylic or hard gel extensions. Unlike temporary press-on nails, soft gel tips offer superior durability, lasting up to 3-4 weeks, and a more professional, customized finish. They are also fully soak-off, making removal gentle on your natural nails and ideal for those who like to change their nail style regularly without committing to permanent overlays. They provide a strong yet flexible enhancement that feels more natural. A common mistake is not applying enough gel adhesive, which can lead to air bubbles and premature lifting. Conversely, too much adhesive can cause overflow and a messy application. Always aim for a thin, even layer, making sure it covers the contact area without flooding the cuticles. Proper adhesion is crucial for longevity!
